Luke Crichton is the Acting Branch Manager and Engineering Geologist at Eliot Sinclair's Nelson office. With nearly 25 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, including more than eight years as the geotechnical peer reviewer for Nelson City Council resource consent applications, Luke has extensive knowledge of the region's land conditions and natural hazard risks. During the 2022 Nelson storm event, he worked alongside Civil Defence, Police and Fire and Emergency New Zealand to assess affected properties across the city.
This presentation will explore the National Policy Statement for Natural Hazards 2025, which came into effect earlier this year, and explain what the new requirements mean for subdivision and land development. Luke will discuss how the changes may affect resource consent applications, development opportunities, and investment decisions across the Nelson region.
Whether you already own investment property, are considering subdivision opportunities, or simply want to better understand how natural hazard planning may influence future property decisions, this session will provide valuable local insights and practical guidance.
Members are also invited to email any tenancy questions to nelson@nzpif.org.nz before the meeting for inclusion in the Q&A session. Spot prizes will be available on the night.
